Wrestling 

Tessa Brooks has been wrestling at Marian for two years. Tessa is active in Momentum Show Choir and has been in numerous plays and musicals.  Tessa plans to attend Denver University to study public policy and law. Tessa’s parents are Ashley Brooks and Andrew Brooks.

Eva Kriener has been wrestling at Marian for three years. She is captain of the wrestling team this season and will be wrestling at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to major in sports medicine/kinesiology. Eva has been on Marian’s team since the first year, and wrestles for a club team outside of school. She has earned a varsity letter and holds 5 school wrestling records and the current school deadlift record.  Eva has also been involved in the trap shooting team for 5 years, BURN magazine senior editor, yearbook staff member, band percussion player and has been co-leader of the Student Union club. She medaled in State Journalism last spring, too. Eva’s parents are Eric and Michaela Kriener.

Martha Rosanna Hinneh has been a wrestler for three years. Last season, she was 3rd in State in her weight class, also earning a NCWIT award. She is also active in robotics, track, debate and esports. She is a published poet and a TAR (Technical Aid Resource student).  She is undecided as to a specific college, but she plans on studying computer and environmental science.  She would also like to wrestle in college. Martha’s mother is Mary Wollor.

Bowling

Brooke Herdzina has been bowling for two years.  She is an award-winning Network student newspaper page editor and has been honored to be named to Quill & Scroll, the International Honor Society for High School Journalists.  Brooke plans to attend the University of Kansas or Nebraska to study biology on the pre med track or psychology.  Brooke’s parents are Sarah Herdzina (Marian Class of 98) and Luke Herdzina.

Emma Fae Koch has been on the bowling team for three years.  She was on the volleyball team for two years and has been active in Campus Ministry as a Retreat Leader for three years.  She is not sure of the college she’ll be attending, but she plans to major in computer science or engineering.  Emma’s parents are Dan and Sandra Koch.

Lilly McAndrews is the Bowling Team Manager for the first time as a senior.  She has also played soccer for three years.  She is a leader on the Yearbook staff and on Burn literary/arts magazine.  Lilly plans to major in biology on a pre-med track at either Loyola Chicago or St. Louis University.  Lilly’s parents are Elizabeth and Michael McAndrews.

Emma E. Pane has been bowling for two years.  She has been a roadie for the Momentum Show Choir.  She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha and major in criminal justice. Emma’s parents are Mark and Lisa Pane.

Maya Zier has been on Marian’s bowling team for two years. She is a multi-sport athlete, as she has also played tennis for three years.  Maya is active in Campus Ministry and is one of the sports editors for the award-winning Network Newspaper.  She has been recognized by the National English Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society and Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society for High School Journalists.  She is not sure about her college destination, but she might want to study something in the journalism field.  Maya’s parents are Peggy and Larry Zier. 

Dance & Cheer

Riley Audino has been a Dance Team member for three years. She is a team leader this year.  She is also involved in Campus Ministry and many other clubs. Riley plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln to study pre-nursing.  Riley’s parents are Erin and Dave Audino.

Amber Rose Johanek has been a Marian cheerleader for three years and serves as a captain of this year’s squad.  She is a recognized member of Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society for High School Journalists, National English Honor Society and National Honor Society.  She is active in Campus Ministry’s FIAT team and is the Academics Section Editor of the 2024 Yearbook.  Amber plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha to pursue a degree in pediatric occupational therapy.  Her parents are Patrick and Jennifer Johanek.

Christel Victoria Novimon Lare has been a cheerleader all four years at Marian.  She was active in the Diversity Board as a junior, on the track team as a sophomore and on the wrestling team as a sophomore and junior, this year serving as a team manager when not doing cheer duties.  She plans to attend Arizona State University and major in neuroscience on the pre-med track.  Christel’s mother is Ablavi Ayigah.

Chloe Whitcomb has been involved in sideline cheer and the select/competition cheer team for all four years at Marian. She currently serves as a captain of the Varsity Cheerleading team. She is involved in the Young Medicine Club, Operation Others, and Young Politicians club. She has also been recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She is unsure where she will be attending college next year, but plans to major in the business field. Chloe’s parents are Jenny and Bryan Whitcomb.

Ella Turkel has been on the Dance team for all four years. She has been active in Campus Ministry as a retreat leader and been honored with membership in National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Rho Kappa (the Social Studies Honor Society) and the National French Honor Society. Ella plans to major in psychology at Mizzou, but is not 100 % sure.  Ella’s parents are Didi and Jeff Turkel.

Swimming/Diving

Hailey Jo Eriksen has been on the Dive team for three years. She has lettered and competed in state each year. She also played tennis. She has been named an Academic-Athletic Scholar and has been honored by the National Honor Society.  She has served as a class officer and was selected for the 2022 Nebraska All State Choir.  She has been active in Operation Others, the peer tutoring program, Prom Committee and in Campus Ministry as a retreat leader.  Hailey is committed to the University of South Dakota to dive and will major in medical biology and minor in forensics.  Hailey’s parents are Josh and Sheila Eriksen.

Sydney Katherine Kelly has been on the Swim/Dive team for three years. She is involved in Campus Ministry as a prayer leader and a Sophomore Retreat leader.  She is active in Operation Others, the Sustainability Club, Ambassadors and the Veggie Club.  Sydney plans to study business administration with a focus on marketing at Creighton University.  Sydney’s parents are Molly and Kevin Kelly.

Gabriella Grace Roche is participating in Swim and Dive for her fourth year.  She is also a 4-year participant on the Track team. She is active and involved in Readers Advisory, Sustainability Club, FBLA and in Campus Ministry as a Retreat Leader.  She is also the copy editor of the Yearbook and is an award-winning photographer.  She has been honored with membership in the International Honor Society for High School Journalists, Quill and Scroll; National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society.  In her Marian career, she participated in Mock Trial for three years, Choir, Operation Others and the Ambassador Program for two years and Show Choir for one year.  In college, Gabby  wants to major in business and be on the pre law track. She also wants to minor in communications at a yet-to-be-determined location.  Gabby’s parents are John and Alaina Roche. 

Basketball

Isabelle May Brichacek has played basketball for four years. She is active in the Young Medicine Club, Operation Others and the Recruitment Team.  She has been recognized as a member of the National English Honor Society and the National Honor Society.  She plans to study pre-nursing at an undecided college in the fall. Isabelle’s parents are Victoria and Tim Brichacek.

Joslyn McKee is playing basketball for a fourth year. She also played volleyball for four years and competed in track. During volleyball season, she earned an NSAA Fall Academic All State award and All-State Honorable Mention in the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald. She is active in Marian in Crusaders Elevating Others, Operation Others, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Ambassadors and Sole Sisters.  She is still deciding her college location, but has narrowed it to Mizzou or Texas Christian University, and she hopes to study engineering. Joslyn’s parents are Kris and Jake McKee.

Madison Kathleen Stover has played basketball for four years. As a multi-sport athlete, she played volleyball freshman and sophomore year and was the team manager this fall.  She played soccer freshman, sophomore and junior year and ran cross country junior year. Madison is part of Campus Ministry, a leader of the Polar Plunge club, and a participant of Operation Others. She has been recognized in the National Honor Society. She plans to attend the University of Kansas and major in exercise science. Madison’s parents are Jeanne Stover and Joshua Stover.

McKenna Stover has been on the basketball team for four years.  She has also been a multi-sport athlete by being on the cross country team for all four years, having been a state team qualifier and an individual qualifier.  She has been named to the All Metro Academic Basketball team for three years and twice been named All State and All Metro Honorable Mention. In the spring, McKenna plays soccer and has been on the state qualifying team for two years. She is in the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and the National English Honor Society.  She is active in Campus Ministry, Operation Others and Polar Plunge. McKenna plans to attend Colorado State and major in zoology on the pre vet track. Her parents are Josh and Jeanne Stover.

Maggie Tynan has been playing basketball for four years. She was also on the golf team for three years and was the team manager for her senior season. She is a part of Campus Ministry, the Ambassador Core Team, and the Social Media Team. She is also an EMHC, a retreat leader and a section editor on the yearbook staff. She is undecided on a college plan at this time. Her parents are Bridget and Sam Tynan. 

Basketball Team Managers

Lauren Helton is a Basketball Team Manager this season. She was also on the golf team for all four years. She participates in FBLA, Operation Others and Project Welcome. She plans to attend college and study business or something in that field. Her parents are Galen and Michelle Helton. 

Ellie Royal is a Basketball Team Manager this season. She played on the freshman and reserve volleyball teams as a freshman and sophomore and is involved in Operation Others and Polar Plunge.  She has also participated in Recruitment team throughout her years at Marian. In the fall, Ellie will be attending Creighton University to study business or communications.  Ellie’s parents are Shannon and Jeff Royal.

Cassie Bauer is a Basketball Team Manager this season after playing basketball for three years. She also ran Cross Country for two years and played soccer for three years.  She is a member of Campus Ministry and Operation Others. Cassie is also Yearbook Section Editor and has been honored with membership in National Honor Society and the International Honor Society of High School Journalists, Quill & Scroll. She is currently undecided on which college she will attend, but she plans to major in biology or chemistry on the pre-pharmacy track. Cassie’s parents are Kathy and Mike Bauer.

The Journalism program wishes these athletes and team managers the best in their senior seasons!

Basketball – Feb. 6, 2024 at 6 p.m.
Bowling/Wrestling – Feb. 13, 2024 at 7:15 p.m.
Cheer – Jan. 12, 2024 at 7:15 p.m. * Update Expected Soon
Dance – Feb. 9, 2024 at 7:15 p.m.
Swimming & Diving – Jan 19, 2024
