Seniors on the Marian Track & Field team were celebrated on Friday, April 4 at the Creighton Prep Invitational Track Meet. Seniors on the Soccer and Tennis teams will be celebrated on Monday, April 7. Soccer seniors will be recognized before the Varsity Soccer game at 6 and the Tennis seniors will be recognized at halftime of the game.

TRACK & FIELD

Lucia Ambrose has participated in Track & Field for three years. She is involved in the National English Honor Society, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, St. Robert Bellermine Youth Group, Dominican Republic service trip, Class Officer, CEO leadership group, Ambassador Core Team, Cross Country, Swimming & Diving, Sole Sisters Club President, Women’s Select Choir, Freshman Retreat Leader, Senior Retreat Leader, Faith in Action Team, Worship Choir and sports page editor for the Network newspaper. Lucia plans to attend the University of San Francisco to compete on their triathlon team as an undecided major. Her parents are Jim and Jean Ambrose.

Kerenzia Kekeli Amouzou started Track & Field at Marian. Keke has made the most of her time at Marian, balancing academics, sports and leadership. On the Track & Field team, she qualified for State in the 4x400m relay as a sophomore and in the 4x100m relay and triple jump as a junior year. She’s also a school record holder in the  the current 4x100m relay at Marian. Outside of sports, Keke is involved in a number of activities, including being a leader for both the Freshman and Senior Retreats through Campus Ministry, serving on the CORE team as a Student Ambassador, and being a member of the Big Sister program. Academically, she’s also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the Black Student Leadership Council. Keke is the Senior Section Editor and Design Editor for the yearbook and has been active in Mock Trial and the Step team throughout her time at Marian. Additionally, she played club volleyball for three years. She plans on attending the University of Houston and studying Political Science on the pre-law track with a minor in Spanish. Ultimately, she hopes to become a criminal defense attorney or a member of the legislature. Keke is the daughter of Fafa Assignon and Date Amouzou.

Claire Behen started running in sixth grade and has been on the Marian Track & Field team since her freshman year. She has been on the Swimming & Diving team as a diver, a Cheerleader and a National Honor Society member.  After Marian, Claire hopes to be on the pre-dental track at Kansas University or Creighton University.  Her parents are Kristy and Bill Behen.

Gabby Birkel is participating in Track & Field for the first time as a senior.  At Marian, she is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. She is involved in Paw Project Club, Campus Ministry and Polar Plunge. She is a TAR (Technical Aid Resource Student) and a member of the State qualifying Bowling team. Gabby is going to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and majoring in business administration and health sciences. Her parents are Jeff and Amy Birkel.

Nora Coffey has been part of the Track & Field program since sophomore year. She remembers starting running in sixth grade. She has also been on Varsity Cross Country for four years. She is a part of Campus Ministry, as a core team leader for Freshman Retreat and a Senior Retreat leader. She was also a part of Marian’s service trip to the Dominican Republic. Nora is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, along with a member of the National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. She is also a club leader of Sole Sisters and Art Club, and a member of Operation Others and Math Club. After Marian, Nora plans to study aerospace engineering at Iowa State University. Her parents are Amanda and Steve Coffey

Maggie Lampert started running when she was in sixth grade. She has been on the Marian Track & Field team for the last four years. Along with track, she is also involved in running on the Cross Country team, Swimming & Diving, and Operation Others. She has been a three-sport athlete her entire time at Marian, lettering in every one of them each year. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln to pursue a degree in nursing. Maggie’s parents are Michaela and Keith Lampert. 

Willow Petri has been on the Track & Field team for four years. Willow is a part of the National Honor Society and Cheerleading on the Select Cheer squad. She was also selected to be part of the Dominican Republic service trip. Willow is undecided on which school to attend but wants to run track and major in psychology in college. Her parents are Susan and Roland Petri.

Jasmine M. Sanchez is participating in Track & Field for the first time as a senior although she did participate in middle school. Jasmine has been involved in choir all four years at Marian and has been on stage crew for the musical “Mamma Mia!” Along with that, Jasmine’s sophomore year she was on the Swimming & Diving team as a Team Manager when Marian won state! She’s also been super involved in Culinary Club, being on the core team all four years. After Marian, Jasmine will be attending the University of Denver in Colorado where she will be studying psychology and Spanish. Jasmine is the daughter of Tara Jackson-Sanchez.

Charlotte Marie Sengstock has participated in Track & Field for all four years. Charlotte is involved in Culinary Club and Pickleball Club. She enjoys playing pickleball with friends especially when it is a nice day out. Charlotte plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is currently undecided but will most likely go into business. Her parents are David and Molly Sengstock.

Rory Wright-Kent is in her first year of high school Track & Field, but she started participating when she was 10 for club in middle school. Rory has participated in many activities at Marian. This includes Campus Ministry, Ambassadors, Young Medicine Club, and the Paw Project. She is also part of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society and the National French Honor Society. Rory is undecided on the college she will be attending, but she plans to major in neuroscience with a minor in nutrition. She is the daughter of Dean and Wendy Wright-Kent.

Track and Field TEAM MANAGERS

Diane Koumaka became a Track & Field Manager during her junior year because she thought it would be a fun thing to do with my friends. Diane is an active and dedicated student, involved in a variety of academic and extracurricular organizations. As a member of the Step Club, she showcases her creativity and teamwork, while her leadership skills shine through her participation in the Black Student Leadership Council. Her academic excellence is reflected in her membership in multiple honor societies, including the National English Honor Society, National French Honor Society, National Science Society, and the National Honor Society. After graduating from Marian, Diane plans to attend Creighton University, where she will study biology on the pre-med track and minor in French. She is the daughter of Linda Kokou and James Koumaka.

Jaeda Lawson Betum has been participating in Track & Field for two years. Jaeda participated in Soccer her sophomore year and has been part of the Basketball team for the last three years. Last year she was awarded the “20 Under 20” award with the MAC Foundation. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society and Rho Kappa, the Social Studies Honor Society. She will be attending Creighton University in the fall and will study pre-law. She is the daughter of Tanya Ezui and Amen Lawson-Betum.

Poni Loala has been participating in the Track & Field program as a Team Manager for four years. Poni is highly involved at Marian, serving in leadership roles across multiple clubs. She is a member of the Step Club, Black Student Leadership Club (BSLC), and the IDEAS Club, where she helps promote empowerment and diversity. As Secretary of the Diversity Board, Poni works to foster inclusion and create different cultural events for Marian. Additionally, she leads morning prayers, serves as a Freshman Retreat Leader, and contributes to Campus Ministry. Poni will be attending University of Nebraska Lincoln, majoring in nutrition on the pre-nursing track and minoring in African American Studies. Poni is the daughter of Oliver Loala and Sabina Dere.

Delaney L. Olson has participated in Track & Field since 6th grade. Freshman year, Delaney was a three sport athlete with Cross Country, Basketball and Track & Field. She is on track to receive her lab coat for completing all of the science courses offered at Marian. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She is involved at school as a Marian Ambassador, and in numerous clubs including Paw Project, Young Medicine Club, Polar Plunge and Operation Others. She is involved in Campus Ministry as a member of FIAT (Faith in Action Team) and is one of the head EMHCs. She plans on either attending Rockhurst University or University of San Diego on the pre-med track. She will major in biology and chemistry and wants to focus more on the profession of dentistry. Her parents are Tammy and Paul Olson.

Aubrey Thompson was involved in Track & Field through middle school and during her freshman and sophomore years. She currently serves as a Team Manager. Aubrey is in the National Honor Society and involved as a Class Officer, in Pickleball Club, Operation Others, Recruitment Core Team and Campus Ministry. Aubrey played Basketball throughout her four years at Marian. On weekends she works in the ICU as a CNA at Methodist Hospital. Aubrey will be attending Rockhurst University majoring in Spanish and nursing. She is the daughter of Eric and Candace Thompson.

SOCCER

Karsyn Hall has been playing soccer since she was 3 and has been on the Marian team for four years. She has also been a Marian Ambassador, a member of the Marian Basketball team, active in Operation Others and National Honor Society. After graduation, Karsyn plans to attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls. She will continue to play soccer there and study biology on the pre-veterinarian track. She is the daughter of Shannon and Joe Hall.

Alayna Hauser started playing soccer at age 5 and has been on the Marian team for four years.  Alayna loves working with special kids and enjoys participating in clubs. She is committed to play soccer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She plans on exploring health sciences. Alayna is the daughter of Tami and Tracy Hauser.

Janie Peterson has been playing soccer since kindergarten and has been on the Varsity team for three years. Janie is a member of the CEO group at Marian, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society and Young Medicine Club. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in kinesiology on the pre-physical therapy track. Janie is the daughter of Kyle and Julie Peterson.

McKinlee Marie Schneckenberger has been playing soccer since kindergarten and has been playing for Marian for four years.  She is active in the National Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Ping Pong Club, Young Medicine Club, National French Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, World Language Club and Project Welcome. She was also the Volleyball Team Manager for two years. She will attend the University of Southern California with a major in biology and a minor in French on the pre-med track. McKinlee’s parents are Justin and Kim Schneckenberger.

Chloe Travis has been playing soccer since kindergarten. She has played for four years at Marian. At school, she is active in the Paw Project Club. Chloe is not sure what she will study in college, but she will attend St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and play soccer. Her parents are Carlye and Johnnie Travis.

Soccer TEAM MANAGERS

Sylvia Borgmann played soccer from ages 7 to 14. Sylvia was involved in Volleyball and Tennis her freshman and sophomore year. She is currently a Marian Ambassador and a member of BURN literary magazine staff. She is also a member of National Honor Society. Sylvia plans to attend Indiana University and major in political science. Sylvia is the daughter of Emily Borgmann and Aaron Borgmann.

Caroline Jones has been involved with Marian’s Soccer program for two years. She actually started playing the sport in kindergarten. Caroline was involved in Volleyball freshman and sophomore year, in Tennis as a Team Manager sophomore year, Big Sisters, FBLA, Operation Others, Ping Pong Club and was an Ambassador. Caroline plans to attend the University of Kansas in the fall and study marketing. She is the daughter of Lance and Jeanie Jones.

Lucy Mausbach has been the Team Manager for two years. She played soccer herself in middle school. Lucy is involved in Pickleball Club, FBLA and Harvard Model Congress. She plans on going to University of Nebraska at Lincoln next year to study marketing. Lucy’s parents are Heidi and Tommy Mausbach.

TENNIS

Heidi Hans began playing tennis when she was 4 and has been on the Marian team for four years. She was the Metro Champion in No. 2 Doubles as a sophomore and junior, the State Runner-up in No. 2 Doubles as a junior and 3rd Place in State Tennis in No. 2 Doubles as a sophomore. At Marian, she is involved in National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (National Spanish Honor Society) and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. Heidi plans to study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Raikes School of Computer Science. She plans to major in mechanical engineering and minor in computer science and business. She is the daughter of Christine Hans and Neil Hans.

Torrey Jean McManus began playing tennis at age 5. She has been on the Marian team for four years. She was the NSAA Tennis State Champion in No. 2 Doubles freshman year, Metro Champion in No. 2 Doubles freshman year, Metro Champion No. 1 Doubles sophomore year, 2nd team All State in 2022, All State Honorable Mention in 2023 and 2024. Other activities Torrey has done at Marian are Volleyball for three years, Campus Ministry for three years as a Freshman Retreat leader (junior/senior year), and on the Faith in Action core team (junior/senior year). She has been an Ambassador for four years, Crusaders Elevating Others, and the Big Sister Core team. She has been honored with membership in the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll all four years. Torrey’s plan after graduation is to attend the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She will be majoring in exercise science. She is waiting to hear from the St. Thomas tennis coach on a potential spot. She is the daughter of Kevin and Tracy McManus.

Jada Pearl Vosik began playing tennis at age 4. She has been on the Marian team all four years. Her tennis highlights include being named NSAA Academic All-State, No. 2 Doubles State Champion, 2x Metro Doubles Champion, and 2nd team All-State. At school, she has been honored with membership in the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Science National Honor Society Junior Chapter, Marian High School Honor Roll, She was also on the Cheer team for three years and Cheer captain for one.  She has been on the Marian Recruitment Team all four years as well as Campus Ministry as a Freshman Retreat leader and Eucharistic Minister leader. She has been involved in Operation Others and Big Sisters. She was a Class Officer for one year. She has also participated in Crusaders Elevating Others. She plans to attend either the University of Tampa or the University of Arizona. Her major is undecided. Jada is the daughter of Andrew and Stephanie Vosik.

TENNIS Team Manager

Jenna Blach is serving the Tennis program as a Team Manager after being on the JV team for two years. At school she has been active in Polar Plunge for four years, and been instrumental in starting the Paw Project and continues as co-leader of the club. Jenna has been a Technical Aide Resource (TAR) student for three years and been heavily involved in Campus Ministry as an altar server and EMHC and a Freshman Retreat Leader.  She has been on Bowling for three years and was on the state qualifying Bowling team this winter. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln to study elementary education. Jenna’s parents are Susan and John Blach.
