Maximo’s Cantina
2613 N Main St, Elkhorn

Maximo’s Cantina is the best place to be on a Friday night. The Marian family-owned business is located in downtown Elkhorn. It has the best-made cantina classics in Omaha like tortas, tacos, nachos and so much more, all cooked by Maximo himself. When I went, I ordered the Torta de Milanesa and Nachos with Chorizo. These two plates were more than enough to feed my mother and I and were absolutely delectable. Their Salsa Verde (green sauce) was freshly made and paired perfectly with their refried beans. Overall, a wonderful experience that provides a cute ambience, perfect for photos and absolutely delicious food. A perfect place for a nice dinner out with your friends to try genuine Mexican cuisine.

Tipico Helado
5210 S 21st St, Omaha

Tipico Helado, meaning “typical ice cream,” has great Mexican street food classics. Their diverse menu includes ice creams of nostalgic flavors like Mazapan, and their savory menu will make your mouth water. From Elote Loco to baked potatoes topped with corn and cheese, they will have you coming back to try something new. A perfect pair to accompany their meal-like items are their variety of Agua Frescas, like strawberry cream-topped horchata. Customer service is great and the staff is friendly and fast. The overall atmosphere is clean and it is a perfect spot to hang out with friends. Tipico Helado has locations in West Omaha, Old Market and South Omaha.
