Artist statement:
This cartoon was inspired by the wait for the “Marian Moms” lunch, which happens once a month. “Marian Moms” is a burrito bowl that is served by parents and beloved by many students. Included is a dessert and a glass of lemonade. Because this lunch is so popular, the lunch line on “Marian Moms” days is significantly longer than on any other day, with the line sometimes reaching the lunchroom door. Although it is tasty, “Marian Moms” lunch is not worth the absolutely absurd wait time. The cartoon depicts students waiting outside the front door in the plaza of the school. To get to the cafeteria from the front door, students go down stairs and through a common area. This cartoon was drawn with a combination of pen and ink on paper and digital painting on Procreate. It took 2 hours to create.
