I speak on behalf of all Marian girls when I say that WE ARE NOT A DAYCARE!!
Daycare: daytime care for the needs of people who cannot be fully independent. That is the definition of a daycare. How could Marian even be considered a daycare when independence is our middle name. We are literally an antonym of daycare.

It really grinds my gears when people compare Marian to a daycare. Yes, we do a lot of fun things that other schools are not able to do. That’s because we are awesome. No, but really, we bust our butts every day and pack our schedules with as much as we can in order to do those really fun things. We work really hard, don’t we deserve to have fun, too?
Almost every Marian girl I know is taking really hard, time-consuming classes, they participate in numerous clubs, musicals, choirs, sports, part-time jobs, volunteer sites, other extra-curriculars, and they still manage to stay sane. Well, somewhat sane.
I do not spend three (usually more) hours a night on homework to have ignorant, jealous people tell me I go to a “daycare.”
I know that calling Marian a daycare is “just a joke,” but it’s not very funny. Give the hardworking girls who attend Marian more credit than they are currently getting.
Marian has a 100 percent graduation rate and this year we had five national merit semifinalists. Yes, that does seem very daycare-ish.
We do super fun, amazing, out-of-this world activities, but on top of that, we also have a huge workload and our dedication and hard work is something to applaud.
So good job, girls! You keep doing you. Be that confident, independent, thinking leader that others strive to become and remember that you are a part of so much more than just a “daycare.”
