Written & Photographed by 6th & 7th Graders in the Journalism Workshop
On Jan. 27, Marian hosted the 6th and 7th grade practice entrance exam. There were an estimated 190 6th and 7th graders taking the test. Girls from at least 46 different schools attended the Saturday morning event. Recruitment Director Mrs. Molly Woodman said, “This morning is important because we want the girls to meet the girls at Marian and to see the friendly environment at the school.” It was important for the girls to get experience and learn about the school.
Following the exam, the 6th and 7th graders were able to pick a workshop to attend. The workshops ranged from journalism, basketball, poetry, chemistry, music, acting or art. After the workshops, the 6th and 7th graders went down to the cafeteria to enjoy some pizza from Godfather’s Pizza while their parents had an informational meeting in the gym. In conclusion, it’s important for 6th and 7th graders to see the school and take the practice exam before 8th grade.
Thanks to the team who made this happen. The group of 15 young women interviewed primary sources and took more than 300 photos and 20 videos of the events happening from 10:30-11:30 a.m. They have earned a future press pass.
