For the first time in Marian’s history, a morning school bus system has been established in collaboration with Creighton Prep to give girls an alternative to driving themselves to school every day.
Once upon a time at Marian, there was a small fleet of white vans and sweet grandpa-type drivers that picked students up for school from certain neighborhoods and took them home, too, but that service disappeared in the late 1990s.
This semester, 22 Marian girls across 15 different stops get picked up every morning. A bus means that Marian can be more accessible to girls who have a longer commute, especially those who can not drive yet. Even tuition assistance is taken into consideration when paying for the bus fee.

When I heard about the new system I couldn’t help but be slightly jealous as a previous freshman who commuted from Bellevue and got to school at 6:30 a.m. and didn’t leave until 4 p.m. It was a long day.
Now more and more girls across the metro area can experience what makes Marian so special.
Diverse walks of life improve Marian and create a community that can’t be found anywhere else. I mean, could any other high school do Field Day?
This bus system is so much more than just a bus system. It’s an opportunity for many more girls to leave a mark on Marian.
