Diversity Board, led by Ms. Ty Nared and a panel of students, invited the Salem Baptist Church Choir to perform. Minister of Music and Fine Arts, Mr. Ananias “Markey” Montague, said,“Gospel music has been so instrumental in the life of our country, and also music. Because music has the ability to bring people together from various backgrounds and move past our religious denominations, move past our political parties, move past the color of our skin, and we come together because we find one thing in common, and that’s the love of a particular style of music, the love of artists.” Photos by ShelbyGerken.

UNO Herd drumline members surprised the student body with their performance, which included multiple beats that infused energy and excitement into the student body. The drumline was included to pay homage to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) drumline culture and a shared energy. 

Celebrating Black History through Music, Poetry, and Dance CAB. This event included performances from the Salem Baptist Church Choir and UNO Herd drum- line, poetry readings and speeches from The Divine Nine, historically Black sororities and fraternities. The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, which was founded at Howard University, has thousands of members, including the Omaha chapter.
