Mandarin students and World Language Club members gather with Mrs. Sicong Mills in the concession stand area to create a special no-bake version of the traditional mooncake to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival.

Special thanks to Mandarin teacher, Mrs. Sicong Mills who shared these photos with journalism.

In these pictures, “the students have made an imitation of the moon cakes that Chinese people usually eat during this festive time. Traditional mooncakes are a Chinese pastry consisting of a variety of fillings such as lotus seed, red bean paste, salted egg yolk and so much more. However, the Mandarin students have made their own no-bake version of the mooncakes by using Oreos, milk and cream. The making of these mooncakes was really fun as we all had to work together in order to make sure they came out beautifully. Once we were done, we felt proud of our little masterpieces and what a good time as we shared the different flavors we had made with one another,” junior Kelsey Herrera said in an email.
