“The Notebook” is the best romance movie to exist. A 2-hour and 4 minute long movie, that came out in 2004, consists of conflict, love and death. “The Notebook,” based on the novel written by Nicholas Sparks, is easily the happiest love story of all.
This romance between two teenagers, Noah and Allie, played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, is loved by many with a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on Google.
Although many people think romance movies are cliche, “The Notebook” is far from cliche. If anything, it is different than all other romance movies, making it unique and the reason so many people adore it.

Starting off the movie with Noah’s big gesture to be with Allie, already showed his great desire to win her love. Allie refuses, but finally gives in and with that begins to fall in-love with Noah almost immediately.
This movie gave a perfect portrayal of what real teenage love looks like and can become. Noah and Allie’s relationship was not perfect. When they fought, they always made up due to their communication and understanding of each other. This shows that the writers and directors were able to express the feelings and situations they know different people in the world experience.
The way this teenage romance is portrayed makes a standard of what women or men want their relationship to look and turn out like. Although comparing is not always a smart idea, it can be okay to use relationships you see in movies like this, to realize the value of love you could possibly have. Realizing that love can look like this, but not every relationship is the same.
Noah and Allies relationship had complications. In the night of vulnerability and talk of the future, Noah found out Allie had to leave for school in New York. Noah knew his life was in New Bern, North Carolina and not in New York. Ending their last conversation before Allie left in a fight, left them both devastated. They did not want the summer love to end. However, as Allie left the next day for school, and the summer ended, so did their relationship.
Because Noah knew he did not want to let go of Allie, he wrote her a letter, every day for a year, hoping she would come back or write to him. However, due to Allie’s mother wanting Allie to move on and be with someone else, she acts in impulsivity and chooses to take every one of Noah’s letters and hide them. Eventually, the year ends and Noah stops writing letters, joins the army, and comes back to the town he knew and loved to a surprise. He finally had the chance to renovate his dream house except in a way where he was fulfilling a promise as well. Taking all of the suggestions Allie gave Noah when they were together, it was a beautiful house which Noah was not ready to sell. It appeared on the newspaper and on Allie’s wedding day with her new fiance, Lon. When she saw it, she was in shock and because of how overwhelmed she was, the wedding was pushed back.
Once Allie decided to do something about the situation, it comes by surprise that her decision is to go visit the house.
As soon as they see each other, the air is filled with confusion and optimism. Allie decides to spend the night, and then spend the next day with Noah. She paints in the room specifically made for her. Then, the famous boat scene. They confess where they have been the last couple of years and why there has not been any sort of contact. Finally, as the truth comes out, Allie knows she needs to decide what she is going to do. Go back to Lon, or stay with her one true love, Noah. As everyone knows, they end up together, because they belong together. As it is well known, romance plot lines end in a “happily ever after” which is usually a wedding, or ends with the couple together, which leaves you only wondering what happens with the rest of their life. In “The Notebook,” the ending shocks most, as it is the most unique romance movie ending in history.
The movie shows the whole love story of the two characters, Noah and Allie. From the blossoming romance to a terrible separation, the rekindling, and of course the famous miracle of their love bringing them away together. What more could a viewer ask for?
This summer love turning into a life of love between Noah and Allie is so beautiful and captivating to watch. The showing of their relationship from beginning to end, which not every love story shows, makes this movie, “The Notebook,” the best romance movie to exist.
This one-of-a-kind movie can be streamed on many different platforms such as: YouTube, Fandango at Home, Apple TV, Google Play Movies & TV, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
