As you stand in anticipation, the crowd erupts and your favorite singer takes the stage. After waiting all year, the moment is finally here and you never want it to end.
Every summer, artists hit the road and Marian girls attend their favorites. Whether it’s a local show in Omaha or a big festival out of town, there’s nothing better than live music and the memories it creates. This summer was no different.
Lollapalooza, one of the biggest music festivals in the country, brought together huge crowds in Chicago.
On July 31, junior Leyla Zier attended day one of the festival. The lineup included some of her favorites like Role Model, Gracie Abrams, and Tyler, the Creator.

“A few artists had too small of a stage which made it difficult to see,” Zier said. “I would go again though, depending on who’s playing next year.”
Closer to home, the Maha Music Festival took place on Aug. 2 with the Pixies headlining, bringing generations together.
“I found it through social media and stood out with my mom. She’s a long time fan of The Pixies,” freshman Kate Berthelsen said. Berthelsen said that she loved the local energy, noting how important it is to support Omaha’s own music scene.
For junior Ava Reeson, music brought her hometown memories full circle.
“We live in a small town and concerts here bring back memories of your town,” Reeson said after traveling to West Point to see country artist Rodney Atkins, an artist she’s listened to for years. Finding concerts in your home state is important in showing support to local venues and artists.
Country music had a strong hold on Marian this summer. Students went to see artists like Megan Maroney, Hudson Westbrook, Old Dominion and Ty Myers.

At the Astro on May 1, the Ty Myers concert brings in a crowd of friends. Lylie Olsen ’25, Clare Eckert ’25, Nikki Ott (Skutt ’25) Reese Eggers ’26, Claire Daly ’25 and Ava Moore ’25 hug. Photo courtesy of ReeseEggers.
Students even enjoyed the free Memorial Park concert on June 27 featuring Ringo Starr from The Beatles. Omaha hosting an ex-Beatle brought fans from all over.
No matter the artist or the location, live music has a way of uniting people across the country. Whether you’re packed into a festival crowd in Chicago or singing along at a local fair, concerts make summer unforgettable.
For Marian girls, this summer was filled with unforgettable tunes enjoyed at a handful of concerts alongside friends.
