With a teal and bright orange bedazzled album cover, fans speculated the showgirl-esque vibe of the album before it was released.

On Aug. 12, Swift announced her new album and the following day, she was featured on Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast “New Heights”. Here, she displayed her album cover and announced the name of the songs.

Her songs “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Opalite,” “Wi$h Li$t,” “Wood” and “Honey” are primarily love songs. They dive into her relationship with her fiancé, Travis Kelce. These are fun, upbeat love songs.

The sorrowful songs featured on this album are “Eldest Daughter” and “Ruin The Friendship.” They have a melancholy and semi-upbeat vibe with lyrics that people can relate to on a deeper level.

“Father Figure” and “Actually Romantic” both have a moody, dramatic tone with a more serious outlook on fame and power dynamics.

Swift also included songs with an unserious and more pop mood and meaning to them.

The song “CANCELLED!” has a satirical vibe to it. The point of the song is that she is making fun of cancel culture in the media and how she “likes her friends cancelled.”

The 12th and final song, “The Life of a Showgirl featuring Sabrina Carpenter,” deals with a glamorous yet sad side of a showgirl life. It portrays the emotional vulnerability that comes with being a pop star in the entertainment industry and has a theatrical feel to it.

Fans were dying to hear this new album which combined the vibes of her past albums “Red,” “1989” and “Reputation.” But did it live up to the hype? Here’s what some Marian girls had to say.

Junior Joslyn Bailey said, “I really like the diversity of her album. Every song could easily be placed on different albums of hers. It is like a combination of all of them.”

On the contrary, many fans were incredibly disappointed with the album, expecting something drastically different than what was released.

They were expecting something different or better than what she put out.

Sophomore Kathryn Lamme said, “I thought it was pretty good but I was a little disappointed by the boring lyrics of a lot of the songs because she’s known for being a really good lyricist. It just didn’t sound like her. I think she is a way better writer than what she put out in ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’ It was fun to hear her sing with Sabrina Carpenter though.”

The style, sequins, and showgirl vibe was altogether put into this album to create a fun sense of creativity. Although some fans speculate that this is her last album, Swift said she’s not done yet.
