On October 24, a group of sophomores attended the No Place for Hate Conference (PEW – Promoting Empowerment in Our World) hosted by the Anti-Defamation League of the Plains States. The workshop brought together metro sophomores from different schools, backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, races, and cultures. Students worked in small groups with students from the other schools, and learned about prejudice, discrimination, recognizing bias, challenging stereotypes, and how to become leaders to help build bridges of understanding among students. “It was an intensive and inspiring day for all involved!” Spanish teacher Ms. Caitlin Gaule said.
Students who participated included: Rachel Achola, Ashley Gadjaro, Amal Imran, Wejuic Majok, Molly Monahan and Jenelle White.
