Conspiracies surround rappers’ deaths

Opinion by EllaMeis

More and more rappers are dying out of the blue, leaving fans in a state of sadness and shock because of the musical impact they had. Theories as to why these celebrities are passing away suddenly seem to be taking over the media.

Although this specific genre of music promotes alcohol and drugs, there’s no denying that it remains popular amongst teenagers. The deaths of these popular celebrities have made a major impact on many lives and, therefore, have caused many teens to look more into their deaths.

I can’t remember the last time I haven’t seen one of these conspiracies on my Twitter feed, so I decided to take things into my own hands and investigate.

Recently, Jarad Anthony Higgins or “Juice Wrld,” a well-known musician and rapper, suffered a seizure and was pronounced dead on Dec. 8, 2019. The rapper was on a private jet when federal agents tipped off the police that there were weapons and drugs on the aircraft. He swallowed multiple Percocet pills in an attempt to hide them from cops. He died at the age of 21.

A theory floating around the internet says Juice Wrld is very much alive. This is because the rapper posted a tweet back in 2017 stating “My goal is to get overly famous, shine for a couple of years… then fake my death.” However, this is impossible since there are existing death records and coroner reports. Not to mention, the funeral was an open casket. That’s one conspiracy debunked.

Gustav Elijah Åhr or “Lil Peep,” also 21, passed away on Nov. 15, 2017 due to an overdose due to fentanyl and Xanax. Several drugs remained in his blood system including marijuana, cocaine, the painkiller Tramadol, hydrocodone, generic Dilaudid, oxycodone and oxymorphone.

Lil Peep was involved with a group called “goth boy clique,” a rap and emo collective founded in 2012. The rapper was a member until his death on Nov. 15, 2017.

According to Marc Hogan with Pitchfork, “Liza Womack, Lil Peep’s mother and the administrator of his estate, sued the late rapper’s management on Oct. 7, according to court documents. The 26-page complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by Pitchfork, claims that although Lil Peep was “stressed, overwhelmed, burnt out, exhausted, and physically unwell,” his managers pushed him “onto stage after stage in city after city, plying and propping [Lil Peep] up” with assorted substances.”

Ultimately, there are some major conspiracies surrounding the death of Lil Peep and it’s hard to say what’s real and what’s not.

I could go on and on about other rappers who have passed away recently like Mac Miller or XXXTentacion, but let me get straight to the point. These celebrities had one thing in common: their last Instagram pictures included only one eye showing. Coincidence? I think not.

There is no telling why these famous rappers had one eye showing in their last Instagram post, but many conspiracy theorists believe it has something to do with the Illuminati, a mysterious group which some believe is seeking a “New World Order” that would impose a totalitarian world government.  The Eye of Providence, an eye usually surrounded by a triangle, is known to be the Illuminati’s symbol. Which is why many are led to believe this group has something to do with the “sudden deaths” of these musicians.
