Inspirational Influences: Journalism I feature magazine recognizes those who make a difference

Journalism I students chose a person who inspires them. Ideally it was NOT a family member, but some juniors convinced the adviser that the story was worth sharing! The sources range from current students to elderly neighbors and grade school teachers to current coaches. Browse the pages and stop and read any that catch your eye. We think you’ll be inspired, too!

In November and December of 2021, the students conducted interviews and wrote their first drafts. The drafts of the stories were peer edited and then revised. Eventually, the reporters shared their stories with their sources and then the stories often went through another round of editing and revising. The photos were added to the package and InDesign from Adobe Create Cloud was used to design the magazine spreads. Students had to secure permission to share the stories with the broader communities. It took a while for all 39 sources to finally approve and move into the pdf-ing stage to create the digital magazine.

Special thanks to the women and men who were featured in these pages.
