Mas Chingon, a small Mexican restaurant located in Benson (6403 Maple St, Omaha, NE 68104), serves Mexican cuisine such as tacos, burritos, fajitas and more. Mas Chingon is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, and open from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. They do delivery and pickup, you can order on google or contact by phone (402-505-7542). Since it was located in Benson, it did take a bit to find good parking that wasn’t too far from the restaurant.
Their staff was welcoming, the service was quick, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing. The walls are covered in numerous graphic designs of Mexican culture, and latin hip hop plays throughout the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and spacious. It was a nice restaurant to eat authentic food and chat with a friend.
Mas Chingo has an extensive menu of food including vegetarian options. Their menu is full of many types of different Mexican food, the price ranging from $4 to $18. The menu had both English and Spanish, most of the names being in Spanish with English descriptions.
Starting with an appetizer, I ordered chips and guac for $7. It was a close pick between hot or mild salsa for $4, but I ended up choosing the guac. It was definitely worth the extra $3 because the guacamole had a smooth consistency and tasted sensational. It came with the perfect amount to share between two people.
I had a tough time choosing what to get for a main course as most of the food on the menu was new to me; however, I ultimately decided on the Carne Asada Tacos for $16 (steak tacos).
Carne Asada Tacos came with 3 tacos in a soft tortilla shell full of cilantro, onions, pieces of cut steak, and a side of lime slices. The tenderness and taste of the Carne Asada was perfect and delicious. I tried one taco with and without lime. I was so surprised at how much the lime added to the taste of the already amazing food.
Mas Chingon did not have dessert options, but the main course was enough to fill my belly without wanting seconds. Mas Chingon, meaning “very cool” in Spanish, is about 5 minutes away from Marian. It could be a great place to stop by after any sort of Marian event in the night. I would rate this restaurant a 9/10. The parking situation was a bit inconvenient; however, the food was worth the walk, and I will definitely be eating here again.
