Student Board planned a Sept. 27 glow-in-the-dark party after walking as a celebration of surpassing the $105,000 donation goal in the all school fundraiser. The prizes provided to those who met their homeroom goals were glow sticks, glow jewelry, glasses or long light up sticks. Two Kona Ice trucks met students and staff as they returned from the 2-mile walk, too, because the total raised exceeded the step-up goal of $120,000.

Furthermore, an important addition to the party was of course, the DJ. For the party, Marian hired DJLayC to perform. DJLayC comes to many Marian events such as Gnimocemoh, the Welcome Dance, and many more celebrations. 

“I loved the DJ because she did a great job playing fun, upbeat songs and keeping girls dancing,” sophomore Erin Cramer said.

STUBO encountered many challenges in the process of organizing the glow party. Some of which being what gym it should be held in, or whether or not there should be food and if so where, etc. Stubo knew that the west gym was too small to hold everyone, but they knew that the east gym was too nice, and if there was food, it couldn’t be in the gym. They also wondered if the gym would get dark, as it must have no sources of light in order for the glow accessories to function properly. Overall, although WAT planning involved many struggles and challenges, it ended up being rewarding for all involved because the glow party went successfully.
