At Marian, there’s a sense of community and empowerment. The students have a bond with one of the school’s most dedicated advocates: the Marian Moms. The Marian Moms’ crew helps with Servite Night, Dancing with the Dads, Mother and Daughter Mass and Breakfast, and so much more, but a fan favorite is the Marian Moms’ Lunch.

In 1983, this group of moms was newly recognized in the Marian community. At the time, these moms didn’t have the recognition or funding to help with the school. What was the solution? A taco salad lunch.

Since this crew of mothers began, these taco salad lunches have become a tradition until this year. On Tuesday, Sept. 24, students saw a shocking new lunch: burrito bowls. “The reason for switching the lunch is because the sales of the taco salads have been going down, and we needed something that would get more sales,” Mrs. Michelle Delisi, Assistant to the Principal, said. Over the years of the Marian Moms’ lunch, taco salad sales have gone down. To fix this, the moms switched to a more popular lunch item. This lunch item showed a line spilling out of the cafeteria doors.

Needing a popular selling item is essential because all of the proceeds from these lunches go to Marian Moms’ crew, who can then provide us with outstanding events, like Dancing with the Dads, Mother-Daughter Breakfast and Mass, and so much more. Mothers are an essential part of the Marian spirit and community. It’s one of the things that makes Marian a special place for girls.
