State basketball has begun at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The first weekend of March is scheduled for the girls’ tournament, while the second weekend is the boys’.

With thousands of people attending it is difficult to find a place to eat. There are always the quick options such as Runza, Taco Bell and McDonald’s, but Marian basketball players believe there are better choices.

Mellow Mushroom is one of the top pizza spots to check out after a game. Mellow Mushroom is known for its vibrant colors and theme.

“I like Mellow Mushroom because the atmosphere inside is very fun, and the crust on their pizza is really good,” senior Elsa Vedral said.

The pizzas here are ranging from $11 to $27. Mellow Mushroom has become a fan favorite among state fans if they are looking for something beyond fast food.

HF Crave is a burger joint that specializes in gourmet burgers and expands on the classic sandwich. From their classic burger to toppings like peanut butter and cream cheese has attracted customers like senior Aubrey Thompson. “The burgers are really unique and the flavors are incredible,” Thompson said.

Tipsy Tina Taco Cantina is filled with a joyful atmosphere, and they offer a high selection of Mexican food. Tipsy Tina’s environment contains music and laughter according to junior Lauren Carlson. “The environment   puts me into a good mood and the food is top tier,” Carlson said.

Options inside of the arena are a reliable option while watching the games. The concessions includes Valentinos pizza, hotdogs, nachos, and ice cream. These snacks are available during all of the games besides the last game’s 4th quarter.

Parking is a struggle when it comes to the games especially when you want food. Parking garages cost $3 to $10 per event. Most parking meters cost $1.50 per hour while 10-hour meters are $1 per hour so plan accordingly.

Whatever kind of mood you’re in after the long games, Lincoln will surely have it. All of these places offer different styles of food in a walking distance from Pinnacle Bank Arena for the perfect Haymarket post-game dining experience.
