As the countdown to tennis season begins, practice is already in full swing for the team. Sophomore Kayla Brown says they have been preparing for the upcoming season by playing as a team in a clinic once a week. The clinics allow the team to improve their skills while working together. Brown also attends one private lesson a week with a different tennis coach to keep her own skills sharp.

Her goal for this season is to “finish Top 3 at state” and to “take advantage and improve during every practice.” The team works together to do just that. By starting pre-season clinics and practice, the girls are already improving their skills.

Brown says that she is going to focus on improving her consistency this season because that is what will allow her to reach her goal of finishing top 3 at state. In tennis, consistency is important if you want to win and make it to state. The team wants to continue to improve each match.

Brown is most looking forward to the team bonding that goes on in and out of tennis practices and matches. She loves the tight-knit community that tennis gives her and just spending time with the girls.

There is both a Varsity and Junior Varsity team, and frequent home games make attending the matches and supporting the team simple.

The first Varsity tennis match this year was March 25 at Bellevue West. The first JV match was against  Bellevue West at home on March 25. The first Varsity home match is April 8 against Elkhorn South, and the players would love to see everyone come out to show their support.
