Review By J1 Reporter Lily Palmer
“Legally Blond” is about a girl named Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) who goes to Harvard Law School. It starts off with Elle going to a fictional college called CULA where she is dating this boy who is going to go to Harvard Law. Turns out he is going to break up with Elle because she is not going to Harvard and he needs a woman who is Harvard-educated.
So Elle decides that she will also go to Harvard. She ends up going to Harvard and forgets about the boy she went there for and ends up finding a love for law. After being such a good student, her teacher recommended her to join and help with a difficult case. This case was a breakthrough for her because she realizes her full potential and is able to help with the case.
This movie is based off a book also called “Legally Blond” written by Amanda Brown. The book is inspired by Brown’s real life experiences at Stanford Law School. Like in the movie, Brown also felt that she was too girly and bubbly, which made her stand out from her peers. This book is also the first in a series that follows the story of Elle Woods. Eventually, after attention was growing towards the book, producers picked it up and turned it into a series of movies.
This movie is not only a fun, light-hearted movie that is good to watch with friends. It also is a story that shows perseverance and being true to yourself. Elle never changed herself and who she was just because everyone around her was different and judged her. It shows young girls that it is ok to embrace the unique parts about yourself and show them to all. It proves we all have strengths and even though they may be different from others, they can still bring new things to the table.
This movie also shows great strength and perseverance when Elle goes to Harvard despite everybody believing she can’t get it. She is put on a tough case and rises to the challenge instead of being afraid. Overall, this movie is an enjoyable watch that everyone should see.
