One of my favorite coffee shops to study and hang out at is Sozo Coffeehouse located 1314 Jones St, Omaha, NE. I first went there with my friend when I was in middle school, though recently I’ve been going a lot more.
The entrance is a staircase that leads underground to the doors. When you walk in there are games like foosball and different board games. There are also two pool tables that you can rent by the half hour or hour. If I am not going there to work on homework, I will go with my friends to play pool and get a coffee.
There are a variety of tables and sofas to sit and do work at. There are also six study rooms that can also be rented out by the hour. Most of them contain a white board, chairs, and other sitting areas.
I either get a tea or the same latte every time. The latte I typically order is called the Sonshine latte with almond milk. It is a banana bread latte that is sweet, but still tastes like coffee. I also got a mint tea that was also delicious!
The service is exceptional and they are always welcoming. The time I might not recommend going is weekend mornings. I go sometimes before work on Saturday morning, and unfortunately they typically only have one barista and the line gets a little long. Regardless, they still provide great service and work quickly to get out the drinks.
One of my favorite things about Sozo are their hours. I get easily distracted doing homework at my house and always try to go somewhere to work on my homework. The only problem with being a coffee shop fanatic is that they always close in the early evening. Understandably because not many people want to drink a coffee that late in the evening. However, for students like myself, a coffee is just what I need before starting my homework.
Sozo’s hours differ throughout the week, but they typically close at 10 p.m. on the weekdays and 12 a.m. on the weekends. I find their hours very practical for students and anyone else who enjoys getting work done at a coffee shop.
It can be kind of a destination location for some people since it is located downtown, but if you are looking for a fun coffee shop to get some homework done or just hang out with your friends, I would definitely recommend giving Sozo a visit.
