Life before 9/11 in Mrs. Angela Miller’s words “felt free.” Miller was driving to work when she heard the news about the first tower being hit. When she first heard it on the radio Miller thought “it must be a joke or an accident.” She was headed to work at Waitt Radio Station to sell advertising for 106.9 The City. When she got to Waitt Radio Station, she and her coworkers were going crazy and could not believe it. Her coworkers and her went into a back room to debrief. That’s when they watched the second tower hit.

After that, they all ended up leaving for the day. Miller went straight home. When she arrived home she was glued to the tv for the whole day. The radio station knew that they had to help. Miller and her coworkers stood on Dodge St. the next day asking for donations.The radio station got the whole city of Omaha together to raise money for the people down in New York. Miller could not remember how much they raised but she did remember that not just Omaha came together, but the whole country came together to help the people in New York. People need to learn about 9/11 because many lives were lost and are still affecting people today. 9/11 was a horrible event of hate and made Americans live in fear. All safety had been lost after the incident, in Miller’s words “the U.S. was naive and nothing like that had happened before, we were not expecting it.”
