Since the rise of artificial intelligence over the past few years, the risk of AI replacing jobs many people are passionate about has become increasingly imminent, and I am frustrated about it.

Personally, I am mainly interested in a career in either Advertising and Public Relations (AD PR), branding or law. With the research I have done on these careers, I have also heard that by the time I actually get to the workforce, those jobs won’t be needed or that many people in those jobs will be replaced by AI. So I took it upon myself to actually look into how AI will coincide with careers in areas of media, design, law, analytics, writing, interpreting and more.

After researching, I learned that AI will more so enhance them rather than replace them. Even in careers like media, branding or AD PR, AI cannot replace the human sense of creativity, storytelling, ideas and more. It can more so help with quick research, generating images and drafting.

As for law, AI can be used for drafting and research purposes. But again, AI is not a lawyer or attorney. It cannot give proper legal advice or do adequate legal work like an actual human can.

In conclusion, I get upset every time I see myself and others giving up on a career because it might get replaced by AI. The speculation feels more like fear mongering than actual truth. I don’t know how AI will change the global career landscape, but I do know that if you have a passion, you should chase it. For years, we have had to adapt to technological and scientific advances and we still need people in certain careers even if AI is involved. Don’t let AI dictate your job; rather research how it will be incorporated into a job you’ll enjoy.
