As a Catholic school, Marian places a special emphasis on developing each student’s spirituality during their four years here. Marian’s Faith in Action Team (FIAT) is implementing an opportunity this year for students to grow spiritually: Eucharistic Adoration.
Adoration involves exposing the Eucharist in a monstrance, the ornate vessel used to house the Eucharist as people are given the chance to spend time with Jesus Christ Himself in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Eucharistic Adoration can be silent or accompanied by music, based on preference and location. It can be with others or alone, structured or unstructured. Eucharistic Adoration is a time for one to simply be with Christ and adore Him in a reverent, intimate and deeply beautiful way.

Marian’s most recent Adoration was held on Sept. 24 in the third floor chapel. Senior Madi Eichele attended in her Block E study hall. “It was a very fruitful and grounding experience,” she said. “Being able to just go upstairs and have Adoration during the day was so peaceful,” Eichele said.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Adoration is that one does not have to be Catholic to attend. Although Catholics believe that the Eucharist present in Adoration is truly Christ’s real presence, Adoration is open to all people. Adoration welcomes people of all faith and spiritual backgrounds, simply inviting all to come and reflect upon their own spiritual journey.
Adoration provides an escape from the business of everyday life and an opportunity to simply slow down and be with the Lord in the present moment. Explore what the Marian core value of spirituality means to the faithful through the beauty of Eucharistic Adoration.
Adoration will be taking place every month for the remainder of this school year, with specific dates to come via email. Junior Lucy Villier, a member of FIAT Core Team said, “On behalf of all of Campus Ministry, please come to Adoration. FIAT would love to have you.”
“You do not have to be Catholic to attend. All are welcome to come to the chapel and have time for quiet meditation and reflection,” Villier said. “Even just spending a few minutes at a time in quiet prayer can make a big difference in your faith life, and Adoration is a great opportunity to incorporate that prayer time into your day.”
