English teachers, Ms. Susie Sisson and Ms. Megan Piernicky say they “are happy to report that we just completed our sixth year of leadership workshops for Marian students.”  Both teachers are former Student Board moderators and full of ideas to help young women reach for their leadership potential.

This year the program ran a special session just for ninth graders. The small group activities were facilitated by a group of seniors who applied for and were trained for the job. The senior leaders were Lauren Beduhn, Katelyn Gochenour, Andie Hanus, Ally Kmiecik, Emily McKenna, Courtney Schincke, and Claire Schneckenberger. “They were terrific!” Sisson said.

The two ninth grade sessions focused on organization and communication.

The 10th, 11th, and 12th grade sessions focused on identifying your strengths and weaknesses and identifying your personal values. The third session was canceled, due to the snow days this past week. Sisson and Piernicky had lined up some really terrific speakers for that final session, however, they’re hoping to bring them to Marian for an all-school assembly planned for early March.
Information from this report came from Sisson’s email update to faculty.
