The musical is commonly seen during the performances, but what about all the work that goes into it at first? Mrs. Mary Rabon says some words to describe this year are large, variety and music heavy. She says that this year is different because they haven’t had this large of a musical in quite a while and there are many roles, so many people play different parts in the musical.

She also said that there are moving parts this year, four directors to cover different segments of the musical. Mr. Michael McCandles is in charge of acting, Mrs. Michelle Delisi is in charge of dancing parts, Ms. Sierra Moore orchestrates the pit band, Mr. Tim DiBlasi and Rabon help out as well. But, that takes a lot of work behind the scenes, so many people to help out to make one big final product.
There are some things that are difficult in the performance this year. Some challenging parts Rabon says are that, “the vocal score of this show is incredibly difficult” and that everything is split up into four parts. She loves when everything comes together though, stating “when you get on stage, everything is in color.” She says that you should go if this is your first time or you go every year because you are seriously missing out on amazing talent and it is not easy to do and if you have gone before, every year is different so you should still go. She also says that the sisterhood from the school can be found in theatre, she says it is one of the most welcoming and open communities out there.
There are many different sides to the same story, and it is interesting to see how others view it. Someone who talked about their experience in the musical is Maeve McGill. Some words she used to describe the musical this year would be community, friendship, hard work and fun.
Although this is her first year being apart of the musical, she says the directors have told her it is the most complicated show that they have ever put together. She also heard, which has been confirmed, that there will be more than 130 different costumes for the production which will be an all time high for the musical.
When interviewing Maeve, she says, “Everyone should go because it is the very culmination of everyone’s hard work; the entire cast works so hard for months to prepare. And, the talent this year is insane!”
She said that everyone should come and watch and to not be afraid to come even if it’s your first time going. Maeve said that Marian theatre “is where I’ve met my best friends. I’ve found a place where I can express myself and everyone there will be supportive of me.” It really is a welcoming community and you can experience that by coming to the musical, so don’t be shy, come support and buy your Anastasia tickets today! Show dates are Oct. 22-25.
