Can people just chew quietly please!
Everyone has things that drive them crazy. Whether it be nails on a chalk board, tapping on a counter top consistently, or obnoxiously chewing, we all have something that just drives us up the wall.
I suffer from 1 of over 10,000 pet peeves. I don’t know what necessarily made this my pet peeve, but it drives me absolutely crazy. I hate when people chew gum with their mouths open, chomp, chomp chomp. I hate when people crunch their chips too loud, crunch, crunch, crunch. I hate it when people keep drinking drinks they know are empty, slurp, slurp, slurp. IT JUST DRIVES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE!
People just over dramatize chewing for no reason; like you can do it quietly, you just choose not to. For instance, I know several people who smack their gum because they think it’s fun and not because they can’t chew like a regular person. I know this may seem a little silly, but it just makes my skin absolutely crawl.
Like I’ll be just sitting at the lunch table eating and minding my own business; when all of the sudden I hear a loud chomping to my left. Whether it’s been constant or just started, it sends a shiver down my spine. I try not to turn to my left and yell, because I know it’s not their intention to drive me crazy, but the urge to do so is fighting to come out. I really just wanna go, “Can You Please Chew Quiter!”, but decided silence is the best option.
I know I probably also do something that annoys people. Whether it be talking loudly or tapping my nails on the closest counter top or water bottle; definitely two of my worst habits. According to one of my friends, my habit of tapping my nails can sometimes get on her nerves. Overall though I don’t have enough evidence to say that it’s a pet peeve that I do to some people.
As I’ve gotten older, the pet peeve has just gotten worse. In the end though I’ve learned to just control what I can and not let it control me.
Do you have a pet peeve?
