Sports

Ready to Leap: Girls on Marian’s Varsity Basketball team prepare to jump and rebound a shot in their game against Lincoln on Feb. 5th. They competed with the support of the student section cheering them on the whole way.

Bracelet Making: Junior Lucy Kalkowski ties a handmade bracelet she made for fellow junior Hannah Nutsch on Surprise Day, Feb. 26. The two had earlier applied some of the temporary tattoos offered in the same classroom.

Academic Moment

Pops Solos: Junior Mia Marcelino plays her pop solo on her violin in front of the Mixed Ensemble class. Girls in the mixed ensemble pick a pop song they want to learn each semester and have the opportunity to perform it at the Pops Concert, or just in front of their class.

Marian Spirit

Pep Squad Spirit: Swim team members cheer on their teammate as she swims the last leg of her race. For every race that includes a Marian girl, there’s always a cheer squad for her at the end of the lane.

Emotional Response

The Achievement of Commitment: Freshman Jane Rohling smiles as she receives her Marian Trap vest, the iconic symbol of Marian’s team, on Jan. 20. Trap shooters on the Marian-Duchesne Trap team get a vest after being a member of the team for a year, and Jane participated in Marian’s Junior team before coming to high school.

Ethics Statement

As a photographer, I try to capture significant moments that accurately portray real life. I will not publish a photo against the wishes of the subject or one that unethically displays someone or something. The photos I take capture genuine moments that tell a story. I aspire to honestly show the emotion and ingenuity of my subjects.
